(1 August 1659 - 15 May 1734) was an Italian painter of the late Baroque school of Venice. About the same age as Piazzetta, and an elder contemporary of Tiepolo, he represents a late version of the vigorous and luminous Cortonesque style of grand manner fresco painting. He was born in Belluno, son of Andreana and Livio Ricci. In 1671, he apprenticed to Federico Cerebri of Venice. Others claim Ricci's first master was Sebastiano Mazzoni. In 1678, a youthful indiscretion led to an unwanted pregnancy, and ultimately to a greater scandal, when Ricci was accused of attempting to poison the young pregnant woman to avoid marriage. Imprisoned, he gained release only after intervention of a nobleman, probably a Pisani family member. He married the pregnant mother in 1691, although this was a stormy union. After his arrest, he moved to Bologna, where he domiciled near the Parish of San Michele del Mercato. His painting style there was apparently influenced by Giovanni Gioseffo dal Sole. On 28 September 1682 he was contracted by the "Fraternity of Saint John of Florence" to paint a Decapitation of John the Baptist for their Oratory. On 9 December 1685, the Count of San Segundo near Parma commissioned from Ricci the decoration of the Oratory of the Madonna of the Seraglio, which he completed in collaboration of Ferdinando Galli-Bibiena by October 1687, receiving a compensation of 4,482 Lira.   Related Paintings of Sebastiano Ricci :. | L'infanzia di Ciro | Hl. c. 1415-1475 He was an Early Netherlandish painter. According to Karel van Mander in his Het Schilderboeck of 1604, Bouts was born in Haarlem and was mainly active in Leuven (Louvain), where he was city painter from 1468. Van Mander confused the issue by writing biographies of both "Dieric of Haarlem" and "Dieric of Leuven," although he was referring to the same artist. The similarity of their last names also led to the confusion of Bouts with Hubrecht Stuerbout, a prominent sculptor in Leuven. Very little is actually known about Bouts' early life, but he was greatly influenced by Jan van Eyck and by Rogier van der Weyden, under whom he may have studied. He is first documented in Leuven in 1457 and worked there until his death in 1475.

född 1847 i Christiania, död 5 november 1906, var en norsk målare. Han är en av de internationellt mest kända norska konstnärerna från 1800-talet. Thaulow fick sin utbildning vid Konstakademin i Köpenhamn 1870 -72, och 1873-75 var han elev till Hans Gude i Karlsruhe. Åren efter detta uppehöll han sig för det mesta i Paris där han fick avgörande intryck från de franska impressionisterna. 1880 vände Thaulow hem som överbevisad naturalist. Tillsammans med Christian Krohg och Erik Werenskiold blev han snabbt en av ledarna i de unge konstnärernas kamp för en rikare och mer vidsynt norsk konstmiljö. Thaulow var bl.a. med på att etablera den första Höstutställningen 1882. 1892 slog han sig ner i Frankrike, och han besökte USA 1898. Från och med samma år bosatte han sig i Paris, där han blev en kändis och blev också känd internationellt, bl.a. genom att bli antagen till den prestigefulla Salongen.
